Scarely Close
August 21, 2004 on 7:40 pm | In Life | No CommentsWell I’m about to head off to Portsmouth tommorrow to look at flats. I then get back (hopefully with a flat to move into) then I’m off to my cousin’s wedding, then as soon as I get back I’m off, moving away for good. Wierd. I’ve got very few days at ‘home’.
NPower
August 17, 2004 on 10:28 pm | In Life | No CommentsI returned home from China to find a letter from NPower waiting. Having for the past 3 months attempted to tell them repeatedly that the meter readings their system estimates are too high and failing I had hoped it was a refund.
I requested a final bill telling them my meter reading. They sent me a bill with a higher reading on. I phoned up to correct this.
And heres were the letter comes in. I hoped it was a refund. It was infact a letter telling me that as I had done nothing about the bill (what you mean other than phoning up to correct it?) they have passed my name to their solicitors who will issue court proceedings.
The bastards! They are trying to get £31 from me in a very heavy handed way when actually they probably owe me around £110. I’ve been phoning about this since around Easter. Each time someone says ‘Yes I’ll sort that out for you’. Each time - they don’t.
I’m soooooo annoyed. I phoned and asked to speak to a supervisor today in the hope they could sort it out. I was told they ‘were taking another call’ and that they would phone me back. They didn’t. You’d think that if they threaten to take me to court they could at-least return my calls.
And to think it’s them that owe me money.
China
August 17, 2004 on 10:26 pm | In Travel | No CommentsWell I’m back from China now. It was very cool. The trip was very good as all the hard stuff was organized for you (like train tickets) but there was quite a lot of free time so it felt like you were on holiday on your own quite a lot of the time.
Some things I enjoyed:
- The Great Wall - It’s absolutely huge, very impressive
- The Food - It’s very nice
- The Guest-house we stayed in for a night - full of antique furniture
Some things I won’t miss
- Obviously being a tourist - perhaps the most annoying thing about the trip as the tourist industry is growing in China and quite a few of the people selling souvenirs are quite aggressive in their selling tactics
- The traffic - It’s absolutely insane, quite funny until you actually have to try to cross the road
- The Food - well not the food (it was nice) I just want a little more variation; how I longed for a croissant. The noodles for breakfast, lunch and dinner was a little too much for me.
All in all it was very cool though. I’ll put some photos up soon, maybe.
But for now back to reality. I’m getting round to trying to find a flat in Portsmouth (I start work in less than 3 weeks now, better than some though
). I’ve also got to book a gown for graduation.
