February 15, 2005 on 8:36 am | In Life | No CommentsWell that’s four Chinese take-aways down and only a few to go withing walking distance. Why is it so bloody difficult to find a good Chinese here. Take my advice. If you ever find yourself in Portsmouth and want a Chinise go to the Yellow River restaurant at Gunwarf Quays which is, it’s fair to say, fantastic - best oriental food I’ve had in Britain. Don’t bother with the takeaways they’re rubbish. This is acutally quite a source of irritation to me as Chinese is my favouritest type of takeaway and none of the ones I’ve been to so far can to Kung Po/Gong Bao (or however you care to spell it) Chicken. Grrr.
Right food obsessed rant over lets go onto some other things.
I’m thinking of buying a little audio player, with little being the operative word. I’m considering various iRiver players but I still can’t justify the money for something that is very very non essential.
There are other things I want but don’t have the space for. The least essential of which is a car. It is starting to get irritating taking several hours longer to get to places purely because I have to take the train. So much so that when I visit my family in late May, I’m flying from Southampton to Newcastle then taking the train. It works out quicker and no more expensive.
I’d also quite like a freezer - it’s actually quite limiting not having one. We don’t actually have space for one and unfortunately the fridge we’ve got doesn’t have an ice box.
Anyhow. I don’t really know what the point of all that was. I shouldn’t really complain as I have found a way to continue lighting type stuff (I’m helping with a get-in on Sunday) and everything else is going well.

February 8, 2005 on 8:57 am | In Life | No CommentsWell it appears I’ve found a way of doing a bit of theatre lighting design. Whilst HumDrum AmDram don’t do the lighting themselves the company that do the design and setup is one person and a group of interested parties. They’re always looking for new people as there appear to be quite a few shows around to light and not very many people interested in designing them. I think that’s called landing on your feet.
I haven’t quite worked out how to event type stuff yet though.
Busy Week
February 4, 2005 on 4:40 pm | In Life, Work | No CommentsWell it has been a busy week.
I got back to work on Monday after Ed’s housewarming and my new cards came in from Singapore. I’ve been ironing out the glitches this week and I’ve got a properly working version of the CPLD code and all the hardware seems to work. I’ve just handed 8 of the 10 over to a different department for the metal work to be added and they’ll be shipped off to the US soon for the software guys. I’ll be testing it for the next few weeks and then I’m off onto a new project hopefully.
Outside of work there has been one relavent occasion. I went to see ‘The Museum of Everyting’ being recored in the Drill Hall in London. The Museum of Everything is a Radio 4 comedy sketch show with Marcus Brigstocke and a couple of other guys. It’s quite funny. The first series is currently being repeated on R4 Wednesday 6:30-7:00 pm and I would recommend listening.
I’m going out tonight so, again, another break from routine.
